WE’RE HIRING: Experienced Vegetable & Herb Gardener

JOB SUMMARY

The Gardener must have farm and garden experience.

In addition, it is desired that s/he will have experience in crop planning, greenhouse management, planting and garden maintenance, harvesting and post-harvest needs, irrigation set up and repair, and composting.

Also helpful is knowledge of pruning, perennials, lawn and garden equipment (tillers, weed wackers, mowers, chippers, etc.)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transplant seedlings grown indoors and outdoors
- Prepare beds where vegetables will be grown
- Fertilizing with manure
- Use various garden tools and equipment
- Install and maintain the irrigation system
- Harvest vegetables & wash the harvested vegetables
- Maintain the quality of the vegetables and their presentation
- Daily watering and pruning

Physical Requirements:

- This position demands good physical and mental health
- Lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull bend and work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to lift/carry heavy loads may required from time to time
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and tolerate work conditions with mosquitoes and bugs

Other Responsibilities
- Animals: feeding and care of a small number of (e.g. Chickens, Goat, Bunnies, Ducks, etc.)

- Pleasant disposition, motivated and willing to learn
- Ability to work alone, if required
- Likes working outdoors and able to be in various weather conditions
- Can adapt to nature’s unpredictability
- Ability to multi-task with effective time management skills.
- Communication Proficiency in English, (Spanish is an asset)
- Teamwork Oriented
- Knowledge of organic gardening techniques an asset
